This research area deals with questions of the “Digital Workforce” and we investigate how the workplace of the future can be designed. Digital technologies are changing the way people work. In addition, the boundaries between automated and non-automated task carriers are being shifted. In our research work we deal with the design of digital work systems and focus on questions of personnel management (e.g. crowdsourcing, knowledge and skills of the “digital workforce”). In addition, the process of digital transformation, and the question of how it can be shaped, will be investigated in our research. The successful shaping of change is a core component of management in the digital age.
