WirtschaftsWoche has published a research ranking of business administration professors in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Nuremberg business professors are among the strongest researchers in the German-speaking region and rank 12th in a nationwide comparison. In the German-speaking region (including Switzerland and Austria), the FAU’s Department of Business, Economics and Society ranks 19th.

Prof. Dr. Sven Laumer, Schöller Endowed Chair for Information Systems is among the top 10 researchers under 40 in the German-speaking world (6th place) and contributes 13.2% to the ranking of the department. In the author ranking, which includes publications from 2014-2018, Prof. Dr. Laumer is among the top 5% of business administration professors (92nd place). In the Lifetime Ranking (life’s work, all published articles) he also ranked among the top 5%.

The entire ranking can be found at WirtschaftsWoche online or here.

In January, the Association for Information Systems also published the current AIS Research Ranking. Here, all information systems professors worldwide were ranked regarding their publications in the AIS Senior Journal Basket of Eight. Prof. Dr. Sven Laumer is listed with other international colleagues on place 12 (AIS 8, 2014-2018, place 44 if the number of persons listed on place 1-11 is included). Only two other IS professors from Germany are better listed than Prof. Dr. Sven Laumer (another three business IT specialists from German-speaking countries achieved the same ranking).

Both rankings are based on the research performance of the individual professors, i.e. the number of scientific articles published in recognized journals. However, the equally important skills in teaching, in the transfer of research results into practice or in the training of doctoral students are not taken into account in these rankings.
