Online Course for Self-study

Kian Schmalenbach

Content

In the lecture “Web Programming” students are taught the basics of internet-based programming.
After a general introduction to web technologies (one unit), the HTML markup language and the CSS stylesheet language are covered in four units of the lecture. Building on this, the basics of the PHP scripting language are taught in a further four units.

Aim of the course

The module provides students with knowledge of:

  • HTML, CSS, PHP
  • Databases
  • Database-based Internet applications

Structure

The course consists of an e-learning offer of the virtual university of Bavaria (vhb) for self-study and concludes with a written exam (60 min.).

Examination performance and numbers

  • Exam: 34631 (Written exam, 60 min.); 5 ECTS

If you wish to take the exam, you must register independently during the respective registration periods via both vhb and campo. This ensures that our colleagues at the University of Würzburg are notified of your participation in the exam and that we at FAU can book your grades. For FAU students, the exam will take place at FAU. Further information about exam time and place will be announced after the end of the exam registration period.

Access to the course platform (StudOn course)

The course platform (wuecampus) can be accessed from the start of lectures via the vhb course Web-Programming.

FAQ

How can I register for the course?

You can register at the beginning of each lecture period via the vhb (see above). It is not necessary to register with the supervisors or via StudOn. There is no limit to the number of participants, panic at missing the first possible registration day is not necessary!

Is the number of participants limited?

No, it is not.

Can I get credit for the course as a student of X as Y?

The course can be taken by bachelor students of business administration (WI specialization module) and information systems (elective module in the area of Architectures & Development) at FAU. If you are studying another degree program, please clarify questions regarding transferability with your responsible examination office.

Can I have the course credited as a key qualification?

For reasons of examination law, crediting as a key qualification is not possible for students at the WiSo faculty as well as at all other vhb universities.

I did not find the exam numbers in campo. My examination office at FAU has now registered me manually for an exam. Why am I not on the list of participants?

Only students registered in the above-mentioned examination numbers can take part in the exam. If the examination numbers are not displayed in campo for your course of study, please contact the course supervisor immediately with your matriculation number, course of study and degree.

Are there any attendance dates?

The online course is self-study. There are no events in which knowledge about the content is imparted. Please note, however, that the exam will take place on-site at FAU.
