In its third issue of 2020, the Pacific Asia Journal of the Association for Information Systems (PAJAIS) has published a fundamental paper on the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry written by the Schöller team (Title: “Why context matters: Explaining the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry and the role of the industry’s characteristics in it”).

Within that paper, Quirin Demlehner and Sven Laumer address the question of whether and how the digtal transformation of the manufacturing industry differs from the digital transformation in other areas. They provide a comprehensive overview of the central elements that make up the digitization of the industrial sector, as well as various interesting insights into the rather distinctive nature of this sector.
