Schöller Endowed Chair Participates in “Code & Kick” 2026

The Schöller Endowed Chair of Information Systems once again participated in Code & Kick, a joint initiative of the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs and the Bavarian Football Association (BFV). The event combines programming and football with the goal of inspiring young people to explore digital technologies, computer science, and career opportunities in the digital sector.

Prof. Dr. Sven Laumer, who serves on the Executive Board of the Bavarian Football Association and is responsible, among other things, for shaping the digital strategy for amateur football in Bavaria, contributed to the event with a short keynote. He shared his personal career journey, illustrating how his passion for football and digital technologies have influenced one another. While still in school, he developed online platforms to bring amateur football to the internet. These early experiences in software development and digitalization laid the foundation for his later academic career in Information Systems.

This year’s edition of Code & Kick placed a special emphasis on vocational training opportunities in the digital sector. Apprentices from adidas supported the participating students during the coding sessions while also providing first-hand insights into their training programs and career opportunities within the company. Hosted on the adidas campus, the event offered participants a unique opportunity to experience digital technologies in a practical and inspiring environment.

The Schöller Endowed Chair would like to thank the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs, the Bavarian Football Association, the ReDI School of Digital Integration, and adidas for their excellent collaboration and for making this year’s Code & Kick event a great success.
