At the start of the winter semester 2026/27, Prof. Sven Laumer once again welcomed many new students to FAU WiSo in his role as program director for the bachelor’s program in Information Systems (Wirtschaftsinformatik) and the master’s programme in International Information Systems (IIS), together with the study coordinators Helena Goeddaeus und Bastian Brechtelsbauer and the FSI WinF/IIS.
People, tasks, and technology are at the heart of Information Systems. The discipline examines and designs their interaction: What needs and capabilities do people bring? Which tasks and processes should be supported? And how can digital technologies be developed and used effectively in this context? This perspective provides an important foundation for shaping the digital transformation of business and society.
We are delighted that so many students have chosen to study in Nuremberg. As one of the places where German Wirtschaftsinformatik has its roots, the location connects a long academic tradition with current questions about our digital future. We warmly welcome all new students and wish them a successful and inspiring start to their studies! Their questions, experiences, and perspectives will enrich discussions about the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation.
