Three Contributions by the Schöller Endowed Chair at NUEDigital 2026

The Schöller Endowed Chair for Information Systems was represented with three consecutive events at the Nürnberg Digital Festival 2026 on June 24, 2026. All three sessions took place at the Dr. Theo and Friedl Schöller Research Lab and addressed current questions around generative AI, digital transformation, and responsible artificial intelligence.

The program began with Tina Wölfl’s talk “Die Wahrheit über Sprachmodelle,” which explained how systems such as ChatGPT work, where risks such as bias, misinformation, and unreliable outputs can arise, and how language models can be used responsibly. This was followed by Timo Mayer’s talk “Vom KI-Hype zum Mehrwert: Die Rolle des KI-Champions im Unternehmen,” which focused on how organizations can move from experimenting with generative AI to creating measurable value. The talk highlighted the role of AI champions as important intermediaries between technology, business units, and management.

In the final session, Prof. Dr. Sven Laumer, Chair holder of the Schöller Endowed Chair for Information Systems, presented “Der Video Assistant Referee (VAR) im Fußball: Implikationen für die KI-Transformation von Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft.” Using the Video Assistant Referee in football as an example, the talk examined what organizations and society can learn from technical decision-support systems. It showed that the adoption of AI is not only a technological challenge, but also an organizational and social one.

Together, the three events highlight the Chair’s contribution to research on Digital Transformation, Future of Work, and Responsible Artificial Intelligence. NUEDIGITAL 2026 also provided an opportunity to discuss current research perspectives with practitioners, students, and the broader public.

The Chair will also contribute to three further NUEDIGITAL 2026 events in the coming days. On June 30, the roundtable discussion “AI Agents in der Arbeitswelt: Verantwortung, Kompetenzen und Use Cases im Dialog” will take place; the waitlist is currently open. On July 1, the Chair will host “Polarisierung und Filterblasen verstehen: Eine interaktive Simulation personalisierter Social-Media-Plattformen” and “IT – ein Teil von mir? Wie IT unsere Identität(en) prägt”, both of which are still open for registration.
