Further Contributions by the Schöller Endowed Chair at NUEDigital 2026

The Schöller Endowed Chair for Information Systems continued its participation in the Nürnberg Digital Festival 2026 with three additional events. On June 30 and July 1, 2026, the Chair hosted sessions at the Dr. Theo and Friedl Schöller Research Lab on AI agents, personalized social media platforms, and digital identities.

On June 30, Prof. Dr. Sven Laumer and Tim-Julian Schwehn jointly led the roundtable discussion “AI Agents in der Arbeitswelt: Verantwortung, Kompetenzen und Use Cases im Dialog.” The discussion focused on how AI agents can be used responsibly in organizations, which competencies employees and managers need, and which organizational conditions can support their effective use.

On July 1, Kian Schmalenbach and Helena Goeddaeus presented “Polarisierung und Filterblasen verstehen: Eine interaktive Simulation personalisierter Social-Media-Plattformen.” The interactive simulation helped participants examine how platform logic, algorithmic selection, content, and user behavior interact and may shape public opinion formation.

Later that day, Bastian Brechtelsbauer and Tim-Julian Schwehn gave the talk “IT – ein Teil von mir? Wie IT unsere Identität(en) prägt.” Drawing on theoretical perspectives from information systems research and examples including video games and IT shutdowns, the talk examined how digital technologies can influence people’s self-understanding, identities, and behavior.

Together, the three events further highlighted the Chair’s research perspectives on Future of Work, Digital Transformation, and Responsible Artificial Intelligence. Across its six NUEDIGITAL 2026 events, the Chair welcomed around 200 participants. The Chair is pleased about the strong interest and the opportunity to discuss current academic questions with practitioners, students, and the broader public.
