In good tradition, the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) marks the end of the research year. This year, the world’s largest conference for researchers in the field of information systems took place in San Francisco. Under the motto “Bridging the Internet of People, Data, and Thinks”, current research work on digital technologies was discussed and presented in workshops, lectures, panel discussions and personal conversations. The team of the Schöller Endowed Chair of Information Systems was also represented at the conference.

At the workshop of the Special Interest Group on Adoption and Diffussion of Information Technology (SIG ADIT), Prof. Dr. Sven Laumer presented two current research projects dealing with the use of digital technologies in different contexts. Together with Dr. Christian Maier and Prof. Dr. Tim Weitzel from the University of Bamberg, the importance of trust for the use of chat bots was highlighted or negative effects that could arise from employees in the home office were investigated.

Further work on the challenges faced by women studying business informatics and on the question of whether women in IT professions are discriminated against in recruitment processes was presented together with Caroline Oehlhorn, Dr. Christian Maier and Prof. Dr. Tim Weitzel (University of Bamberg) at the Post-ICIS SIG Social Inclusion (SIGSI) Research Workshop 2018.

Prof. Dr. Sven Laumer also participated in the Reviewer Workshop of the Management Information Systems Quarterly (MISQ) and supported the conference as Associated Editor in the selection of papers presented at the conference.
