On 01.03.2019, the project “Artificial Intelligence, Chatbots and Recruitment: The Candidate’s Perspective” funded by the Adecco Foundation will start at the Schöller Endowed Chair of Information Systems.

The HR sector faces the challenging task of filling vacancies on the labour market with increasingly complex candidate profiles and highly competitive, scarce talent. Recruiting is a field of tension between internal goals and processes (e.g. effectiveness and efficiency of processes), external stakeholders (especially expectations and behaviours of candidates) and technical possibilities (e.g. applicant management systems, artificial intelligence), which have to be considered synchronously.

Above all, the (further) development of innovative technologies and the changes in communication behaviour caused by social media can lead to new forms of work in the long term and thus have a lasting influence on the recruitment of talent.

Within the project duration of three years, the requirements of the candidates, the individual acceptance of innovative technologies in personnel management (e.g. chatbots, data-driven recruiting) as well as social acceptance and ethical questions will be considered.

The aim is to consider the expectations of candidates in conjunction with diffusion barriers and corporate design goals. On the one hand, the opportunities arising from the interaction of man and machine in the recruiting process are to be analysed. On the other hand, possible challenges regarding the acceptance of innovative recruiting approaches should be considered.

Ultimately, the project should contribute to providing new impulses and solutions for the labour market of the future.
