The Schöller Endowed Chair of Information Systems is pleased to welcome Timo Mayer as a new research associate.
Timo studied Business & Economics with a specialization in Information Systems from 2021 to 2024 at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. As part of his studies, he spent half a year in East Asia at the National Taiwan University in Taipei (Republic of China), where he attended courses in the Information Management program. His bachelor’s thesis examined the impact of generative AI on teams in organizations and was presented in a revised version at the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) 2025 in Amman, Jordan.
Since 2024, he has been pursuing a master’s degree in International Information Systems at FAU. During this program, he completed an exchange semester at the university of Bern in Switzerland, taking courses in computer science and business administration. Timo plans to complete his master’s degree in the upcoming summer semester.
Alongside his studies, Timo gained practical experience at Siemens Mobility in Erlangen from 2021 to 2024. In addition to various business-related roles, he gained insights into IT consulting. During this time, he also spent three months working at a Siemens location in Barcelona, Spain.
Since 2023, Timo has been working as a student research assistant at the chair, supporting both research and teaching activities.
Timo is actively involved in volunteer work with the Information Systems student association, the Medienzentrum Parabol in Nuremberg, and as chairman of the cultural association STOW301 in his hometown of Forchheim. In his free time, he enjoys being on the football field — as a referee, coach, or player.
Since 2025, Timo has been a recipient of the Deutschlandstipendium. Furthermore, his international stays were supported through the PROMOS and SEMP scholarship programs.
At the chair, Timo will contribute to the bachelor-level courses Data Science: Data Management and Analysis and Enterprise Content and Collaboration Management – Future of Work: Theories, Methods and Technologies. In addition, he will provide administrative support for the VHB online courses Web Programming, Scale-Up, and Data-driven Supply Chain Management.
His research focuses on Human-AI collaboration as well as the introduction and use of generative AI across different application contexts. Besides that, he will also be dealing with digitalisation in sport.
